I'm fundraising for MATES in Construction

This April, I’m taking on the MATES Long Lap 2025

Mental health matters. And no one should face hard times alone.

“You are not alone” isn’t just a phrase—it’s a principle. One that aligns with the Samoan saying:

“O e e lavea’i ia te a’u i taimi o lo’u puapuaga, o o’u aiga.”
For he who comes to my aid in my hour of need, is my kin.

That’s the spirit of MATES. We show up. We support each other. And we remind our mates they don’t have to go it alone.

I’ll be sharing updates throughout the month. Every step, every dollar raised, helps MATES continue their vital work across the construction sector and beyond.

Thanks for backing this kaupapa—and walking the Long Lap with us.

Back to it

Monday 14th Apr

Hit the pavement this morning, and man, it was a struggle after a weekend watching Super Rugby with the lads. Go the Saders! But honestly, those laughs and good times with the boys are what it's all about. Keeps us steady and grounded.

Morning walk

Thursday 10th Apr
Kicked off the morning with a 5km walk along the Wellington waterfront for the Long Lap with MATES in Construction — starting from Parliament and finishing with some great chats along the way.
Awesome to have Minister Chris Penk there walking with us and backing the cause. Mental health in construction matters and showing up counts.
Big thanks to MATES for leading the charge

O le mea sili o le taumafai

"Struggle street with second run this morning but "o le mea sili o le taumafai." Every step is a win for mental health.  Crusade on

One step at a time

Sunday 6th Apr
I’ve set myself a goal of running 40km this month for the Mates in Construction Long Lap. Started with a run this morning, and it was a battle but the cause is worth it. Raising awareness for mental health in the construction industry and the generous support from everyone donating is seriously motivating. As the Samoan proverb says, "o e e lavea'i ia te a'u i le taimi o le puapuaga, o oe a'u aiga" those who help in times of need are family.

Thanks to everyone backing me. One step at a time
