You can sign up and participate in the event, donate directly, or support participants by spreading awareness and encouraging others to contribute.

Share your page via email, social media, or in-person conversations. Tell your story and explain how MATES’ work aligns with your values to inspire support. 

What do I need to participate in the Long Lap?

Apart from registering, you’ll need enthusiasm, a willingness to spread awareness, and a commitment to raising funds for MATES.

What is MATES Long Lap?

When is it?

MATES Long Lap is held during the full month of April to raise awareness about mental health and suicide in our industry.

Who can join the event?

This is a virtual event so all our mates across New Zealand can join in - walk, run, ride, swim or wheel – choose what you do best.

What is the challenge?

Our goal is to complete five laps of the distance up and down New Zealand of 3,000kms totaling 15,000 kms!

Registration

Can I register a team?

Yes, you can either set up a pre-paid team or join a team.

How much is registration and what is included?

The registration fee for the MATES Long Lap is $40. This includes MATES merch, which will be sent to you after completing your registration.

Do I have to participate in the Long Lap to fundraise?

We encourage people to be physically active as this does aid mental well-being. However, you can still fundraise even if you’re not directly participating in the event.

Are donations tax deductable?

Yes, all donations of $5 or more are tax-deductible in New Zealand. Donors will receive a receipt via email.

Can I update my fundraising page after I’ve created it?

Yes, you can edit your page anytime to update your goal, add photos, or post updates for your supporters.

What happens if I don’t reach my fundraising target?

Every dollar raised counts, so don’t worry if you don’t meet your goal. Your efforts will still make a meaningful impact.
